Override TG lookup in the contacts

Post by VK3KYY » Wed Dec 04, 2019 1:51 am

One thing I noticed...

If I manually enter the OpenGD77 TG of 98977 it displays as TG 98977

I wonder if we should attempt to perform a lookup in the contacts and if the number is in the Contacts use the name from the contacts

I think this has advantages and disadvantages either way.

I think it may be a good idea ;-)

Roger, maybe you should make some sign that TG was entered manually, like star "*" on md380tools FW, no matter if you parse contacts to display name instead of numbers, or not.

Edit: well, after looking at my Tyt's, I found out that "*" is not used in the main branch of md380tools (which I have in MD380), but in a fork that stopped development year and a half ago (which I have in MD390G and like it very much cause of some options). But anyway, my statement still stands, "*" is a good mark for manually entered TG or PC.

Yes.
That is possible, except if people use really long contact names I think they can be 16 chars long, which is the same width as the screen.

Hm... Yeah... Well, any mark placed anywhere on display will do.

BTW, see my edit of previous post. Not that it really matters to be seen. :D

Yes.

I'm sure we could include some sort of indication. Perhaps underline it.
