Documentation for the AT1846S

Post by IU2KIN » Fri Jan 08, 2021 5:09 pm

Hi everyone,
I'm a developer of the OpenRTX project,
We haven been quiet for some time.
In the meantime we've made some progress with our devices, achieving analog FM on both the MD380 and MD390.
The MD-UV380/90 will follow next, but we could get there much faster by having some more documentation on the AT1846S.
Does any of you have the datasheet of the chip, to share?

Regards and 73,

As far as I am aware the only documents we have are in the docs folder on GitHub. As with many of the Chinese chips there is not a lot of detail.

You already have all available information, as you cloned the OpenGD77 source code and docs for your other transceiver project

Both the C6000 and AT1846S do not have officially available data sheets.

Someone (unknown) paid money for the partial data sheet of the C6000 from a Chinese file sharing site.
I spent many hours scraping together all available data sheets for the AT1846S and its predecessor the RDA1846S.

However, none of these chips is fully documented, and in the case of the C6000, we know very little.

Thank you Roger and Colin,

we'll keep reversing and putting together what we learn, OpenGD77 is a good working example for this.

In the end we'll discover all the hidden corners of our hardware!

By the way Roger,
we didn't mean to use your work without giving due credit.
We did not directly include any OpenGD77 source into our project,
however OpenGD77 was a very good reference when writing our code.
We will rewrite the credits statement in our repo to reflect that.
But feel free to speak up if you feel like your project is not given enough credit.

As hams, and open source developers, we are a community,
we fight together against closed-source proprietary hardware and technology.

Let's keep fighting together!
