Thanks for moving. I wasn't sure if this is this "motorboating" sound.
It appears at RX. Maybe I can try to do a recording of that noise. It wasn't there at the beginning I used OpenGD77, appeared with some firmware update, disappeared with the 04.10. update and came back yesterday ...

It is really strange...I updated to the latest development a few minutes ago.
The disturbing sound was still there (turn the radio on, but let the volume knob at its lowest level). Then I switched from my hotspot to another zone, to another repeater and back to my hotspot.
The disturbing sound disappeared, now it is just a very low random noise. It seems, that it has something to do with the squelch resp. when the loudspeaker is activated.

I could send you a sound sample, where I turned on the radio with the volume at its lowest level and the turning the volume up at RX and down again...

If you are referring to a low level squeal at low volume on receive then it may be due to a design error that makes some radios sensitive to battery voltage. The audio amplifier goes unstable when the battery is fully charged. See Jason’s web pages at http://members.optuszoo.com.au/jason.re ... 77mods.htm for a modification. (Near the end of the document)

BTW.

Sorry to move your posts to this thread, but sometimes its hard to know whether the bug people describe is Rx or Tx or something else.

e.g. I recently received a bug report on a Baofeng DM-1801 of a hissing sound on Tx, which is not the normal motorboating noise.
