Thank you for the reply.
I suspected as much.
You are not the first person who has encountered this problem.
I have replied in detail to someone else about how erase and reload the CPU (MCU) chip by connecting to the SWD pads on the PCB
Its not a difficult job, but you would need to buy a programmer dongle to do this.
