Setting up 2nd DM-1701 with Hotspot Radio ID

Post by KK7RTW » Thu May 09, 2024 4:48 pm

I may be doing something wrong but I have two DM-1701's and want to setup one as a hotspot. The radio ID field in settings seems to be limited to 7 digits and using one as a hotspot would require I add "01" to the end of my ID for a total of 9 digits. Is it not possible to set the 1701 up as a hotspot with the OpenGD77 CPS?

RTS software allows it but only works if I use the OEM firmware which sucks.

Thanks,

Mark

You're mixing things.
DRMId (while in hotspot mode) is irrelevant here, it is part of the MMDVM config, where you define it and optional SSID for the network connection.

I will give them both the same ID, I thought I had to append the ID directly in the second 1701 based on seeing this at radioid.net:

Your Radio ID's
Radio ID Callsign Remarks Type Last Heard Last TG Expires Status
3206539 KK7RTW DMR DMR / P25 / CCS7 -- -- Does not expire Approved
3206539[nn] KK7RTW -- HOTSPOT -- -- -- Approved

Yes, as whatever DMRid you define for the given radio won't be used while in hotspot mode.
The SSID you define in the MMDVM config is optional, and just extra digits and not part of a DMRId as DMRId is a 24 bit value, hence the max value is 16777215 (AllCall), and relevant only if you have more than one hotspot connected to the network at the same time.
As you can see, the manufacturer CPS is wrong letting entering 9 digits.
