New Beta version 2023 07 15

Post by VK3KYY » Sat Jul 15, 2023 7:43 am

A new Beta version is now available with some new functionality and various bug fixes

or

• Add “Night” theme system. For colour radios e.g. UV380, a separate Night theme can be uploaded.
Theme can automatically switch between day and night themes if Options -> Display options - > Auto night is enabled (On), and also the clock and location is set.
Automatic Day / Night switching uses the position of the sun to determine whether Day or Night theme should be used.

On monochrome radios like the GD77 and MD9600, the Auto night theme is also available but because these radios do not have a colour display, this feature inverts the colour of the display. i.e During the night, the screen has a black background with white text.

Day / Night theme can also be manually toggled
SK1 + Red toggles (overrides) Day/Night, and disables auto night/day
SK1 + longpress RED clears the override (and re-enable auto night/day)

Note. Automatic Day/Night theme switching is checked every 5 minutes.

To upload a Night theme you need the latest CPS

downloads/CPS/Latest

Specifically

https://opengd77.com/downloads/CPS/Late ... .14.01.exe

• Added Night brightness. Options -> Display options -> Nite Bright. The night brightness value is used in conjunction with the Day / Night theme system, as described above.

• If a Quick Key is assigned to increase or decrease the normal brightness value; when the radio is in Night theme mode, the same Quick Key will change the Night Bright value, so that the brightness can be adjusted regardless of Day/Night theme mode.

• Fix "No Keys" beep option access when VP pack is not found in flash.

• Change text “Bandwidth” in the Channel details to “BW” because the text of Bandwidth was too long and caused cropping of the bandwidth unit (kHz).
Note. All translated text which was too long, has also been changed to “BW”

• Do not attempt to save the settings or VFO when Flash memory test has failed

• Fix reverseRepeater / displayChannelSetting / monitorMode in VFO

• Internal changes to the way the buttons/keys are detected for monitor mode.

• Add missing voice prompt, and update voice prompts to support the new functionality

Thanks go to Daniel F1RMB, for creating all these fixes and enhancements

Thanks a lot, great idea with the night mode. Just a small idea: would it be also possible to have separate (Red/green) LED On/Off setting for day/night mode? The LEDs are very bright at night (DM1701 but probably on RT3s as well) and I doubt PWM control of their brightness is possible on the corresponding pin.

Always use the one specified in the instructions:

https://www.passion-radio.com/index.php ... chment=760

Unzip the firmware package file to extract the file named MD9600-CSV(2571V5)-V26.45.bin and save this file where it will not get deleted.

The radio will always appear as COM port if the firmware is running. This is independant of the CPS.
Check your device manager in Windows.
Its up to Windows if it shows the USB device of the radio as COM port. i.e if there is a driver issue, the radio will appear as an unknown device.

Reboot the radio, unplug the USB cable and try plugging it back in again, either to the same USB port or a different one in the PC.

If you still don't get a COM port even on another PC. Put the radio back into DFU mode and reload the previous firmware version and try again.

Connect the radio station to USB, turn off-turn on the power of the radio station, open the device manager, disable/enable the com port where opengd77 is connected. On WINDOWS 7, the latest firmware has this problem.

This is not accurate.

This firmware has been downloaded over 500 times and for the majority people there have been no problems.

The problem you reported, on Windows 7, was specifically when writing the theme multiple times.
You did not report the COM port no longer works after the firmware was loaded.

This bug report does not mention the theme.
