An issue with the latest firmware release

I flashed the latest release of the OpenGD77 firmware using the latest release of the CPS.
Had to redo all the settings, but that was not an issue.

Now turning my MD-UV390 on, the display remains black...
I casually found that the radio only switchs on normally by pressing the SK1 key and holding it while turning on the power/volume knob.

Have I failed to read some instructions or is that an undocumented bug?
Apart from that, the radio is fully working.
