Thanks,

I have heard other people who had problems with the socket. It sounds like the internal switching is not working.

Colin.
Advice for everyone: DO NOT use the external AP socket because after the first time it will NOT work anymore it is defective and not easy to replace ... and finding it ... if this happens you must either always use external AP or open the top panel, BREAK the plastic and shortcirquitare with soldering the contacts, even if one wants to bring out two wires and put an external connector is not easy you have to disassemble the whole board ..... great job not advisable to do .....

In fact when I load the latest TYT firmware into my two V2 radios they don't have the 4 level dimming available, it only appears on the V4 radio. So even TYT don't support dimming on some versions.

Colin.
I have other 9600 radio, but haven't put firmware there yet, it is older date manufactured 1804 and it has dim selection on menu and it works. so it cant be version 4

That white blob is the factory mod for the Microphone backlight.
On early radios the microphone backlight stayed on when the radio was off.
The factory added an extra transistor (underneath the white blob).
(I know this because I modified about 50 of them for a UK dealer. But my blob was black!)

It looks like there is also another mod in the dimming circuit.
Can you please take a closer picture of that. (next to the white cable where there are signs of soldering flux.)

I think that is the mod to allow the official dimming to work. Later versions of the front panel have these mods included on the layout.

Unfortunately I think that might mean your radio will not work with the high frequency dimming.

Are you sure you are using the latest version of the firmware?
The problem with the mic remaining live for a fraction of a second after releasing the PTT was fixed some time ago.
