Roger,

Understood. Lucky for all of us that you are good at solving puzzles!

It's a slow night scanning the usual busy talkgroups on a half-dozen repeaters here. Not hearing any extended conversations that will give both radios enough time to evaluate the audio. Just people clicking their openspots and announcing their callsigns with no replies. Not sure if I'll hear enough to give a report!

I finally had a nice 10 minute conversation to listen to and again found the radio with the optimization toggled on had a significant issue with audio dropouts and corruption compared to the radio with optimization toggled off:

Radio with firmware [27fdd65] optimization toggled off = 1 audio dropout
Radio with firmware [dc21ef5] optimization toggled on = 15 audio dropouts

So the problem definitely followed the firmware when it was installed on the other radio.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Rob

I'll disable code optimisation on the DMR code in the next release, but I'm also actively investigating the problem with the TimeSlot value read from the C6000.

I'm running c83ccc7 Dec 17 2019 and definitely noticing broken receive audio on DMR. Is the code optimization on by default in this version?

Code optimisation was turned off a few days ago, and AFIK should not be on in the latest build

Silly question:

Have we had any new compilation since Dec 15th ?

Thank you.

That's what I thought. So I'm surprised to hear the audio issue which I hadn't heard before.

I have a number of Jumbospots. I have no audio problems using GD77 with the latest OpenGD77 firmware with Jumbospots.
I also have a Scott Zimmerman's MMDVM repeater board interfaced with Yaesu FT-8800. I have no audio issues with TYT and Anytone radios using Zimmerman's MMDVM repeater setup. However, when I use GD77, I have very choppy/broken audio issue that I can not copy more than 60% of received audio. I am not sure if this is a MMDVM board specific issue. After reading through the thread, I decided to downgrade firmware to very first Tier 1 firmware release. There was a substantial improvement of audio quality. So what has been changed since?
