Contacts screen

Post by VK3KYY » Fri Nov 22, 2019 11:16 pm

Thanks to Alex DL4LEX..

We now have a way to add new Contacts in the OpenGD77 firmware

There is a new menu item for Contacts with options of "Contact list" and "New contact"

Both TalkGroup and Private Call contacts can be added.

In the Contacts list, the initial display are the TG's . To access the Private Calls, press the # key

Access to the Contacts list is also available from the CHannel and VFO screens by pressing Function (Blue) + #, and press # to get access the PC list.

I've uploaded these new features into the OpenGD77_latest.sgl

https://github.com/rogerclarkmelbourne/ ... latest.sgl

Specifically this commit to github

Note.
Although Alex and I have tested this. There is a slight chance it may have bugs, including corrupting your codeplug in the radio

so I went into contacts screen and added new contacts, all slot 2 private. as follows......

4000 (disconnect),
4400 (uk calling),
5000 (channel info),
9990 (parrot)

all saved successfully

from the channel screen, pressing # # # displays the contact screen and up and down selects the contact ie. 9990, and GREEN confirms it, pressing the ptt works and I dont get that annoying accept call thing anymore, after my transmission, pressing the left or right arrow returns me to TG9. excellent work. Also BLUE + # then # works too... amazing work thank you

I loaded the firmware and tested by adding 9990 (BM Parrot). I saved it and tested it with my hot spot and it worked as expected. Nice job. One thing I would suggest is maybe put a delete key in. I made a mistake on my first attempt and saved a talk group just playing around that I did not mean to. If there is a way to delete it I did not see it? Nice addition and while I will test more so far seems to be working fine

Mike

Alex just told me Function + Red deletes, but I've not tried it myself. I'm not sure if its for TG's or PCs or both

The delete function is not yet included in this version.

When it's merged it is for private contacts only.

Deleting TGs requires to check every RX Group to not delete a used contact.

But I will add this.

I don't think we should aim to be able to do absolutely everything that the CPS can do. Its more of a way to modify whats already in the radio in case you cant get to the CPS e.g. away on holiday etc

So perhaps just checking if the TG is used and if its used then it can't be deleted.
