I have found the a bug which is probably causing the overheating

I think the Tx hardware was not being turned off, even though the radio appeared to be receiving.

I am testing a fix for this, but I also discovered a bug which is in all the previous versions

When transmitting on DMR, if you release the PTT, and then very quickly press and hold the PTT again, you will notice that the red LED continues to be illuminated, but the count-up / count-down timer does not change.
In this situation, the radio is not actually transmitting.

So I also have to fix this bug in my next version.

It could be that.
The radio fell off just before I turned on the Scanner.
I picked her up from the floor and possibly pressed the ptt a couple of times as I grabbed her.
I didn’t comment on it yesterday, because I didn’t give it importance.

I cannot replicate this on 1417aa1, maybe I am just lucky

Hi,

You have to press/release fast, then keep pressed. The GD looks like transmitting, but if you're monitoring the frequency you won't see any signal.

Fixed locally.

EDIT: it's easy to reproduce in DMR simplex.

Cheers.

Unfortunately there seems to be a bug with the hotspot in the version I just released, so I have withdrawn it again.

Also some people think it won't wake a repeater, but that works fine for me.

I will need to send the next version to more beta testers before I upload it, but as the firmware has hundreds of features its hard to test everything before making an experimental release

Roger, do you have any kind of test plan or at least smoke tests to go through for a release? That helps make sure everyone at least tests the main functionality of something and doesn't forget something. As a QA lead I generally would create something that documents all functionality and would test all of it, but mark certain bits of it for smoke testing which generally reduces the test set tenfold. If you've touched some specific functionality, you emphasize testing there and test all of it.

Just a thought as it's so easy to make a small change to one thing and miss it affected something else. Of course, test plan or not, that can happen.

I test FM with and without CTCSS on both Tx & RX
I text DMR simplex and Duoliex

I send the version to 3 or 4 people, and they use it for a day.

However I don't test hotspot mode,

I also don't test the GD77S or the RD5R

So perhaps I need to ask for Beta testers who regularly use their radio.

Or I accept that the only way to give this a decent test, is to allow everyone to use it, on the understanding that it may have problems.

BTW.
I should probably not have removed the November 7 version. But I received 2 reports of what looked like serious bugs, however in hindsight, one bug was effectively a false report and the Hotspot bug seems to be hard to trigger and may have been present in the version from November 3

sorry for this request, I get one day breaak so I lost some posts.

The today version was retired again ?

I have installed without significant problem to report, not tested in hotspot mode.

Do you suggest to rollback to 3 november develop version or not ?

thanks,
Diego

AFIK.

The only bug is in Hotspot mode.

This version is in use by several Beta testers and no one reported any problems.

However, Daniel emailed me to say there is an intermittent bug in the hotspot, hence I withdrew this version.

In hindsight, I should not have removed it, but I received the reports at 22:00 local time, and I thought it safer to remove it, as I can't answer questions during the night etc

What is the error that occurs in the "HotSpot" mode After uploading the Firmware of November 7, 2020 to the radio, I did not notice anything bad (bad), I wonder whether to upload this version to the radio that works in "HotSpot" mode
