Maybe it is a way to recover the memory in GD77 instead of generating firmware with all language versions generate firmware only in 2 languages, basic EN and another second, e.g.

OpenGD77_xx.sgl

where xx is the country-specific version, JA Japan, PL Poland, OK Czech etc

Did a quick test with the dev. version "powersaving / motorboating" - i can't spot any problems with our local repeater

What ?

The difference is JA is Japanese/English only, and it's related to fonts.

We're not going to build zillion of binary blobs, two languages only, it would be totally crazy to build/manage.

Cheers.

Hello. In the test firmware from 30.01.2021, the TS filter does not work. I use DM1801.

OK.

I did not have any problems with this on the GD77

On my GD77, the power consumption has dropped from 104 to 70 mA (with the backlight on 20%). I can't hear helicopters. Thanks.
OK.

0% backlight should be 61 or 62 mA on the GD77.

Battery life should be increased by up to 50% when the radio is totally idle.
Receiving with low volume battery life is 20 or 30% better.

Tx battery life is not changed much, because even with Tx of 50mW, the radio consumes 200mA

Pointless and impractical.

Saving would ONLY be 10k at most, and to build 14 completely different versions would take 30 minutes for every new version, even on my overclocked water cooled 24 core PC

Please describe the problem and also provide your callsign.

I can't replicate this problem on my DM1801

I loaded the 1/30/2021 developmental firmware into one of my GD77 radios and what I hear on DMR coming back with parrot is perfectly clean. Both of my GD77 radios have always exhibited a very low level of the reported helicopter noise so this version seems to have eliminated it on the radio I installed it to. Everything sounds clean with analog as well. From what I can see all the features I use are working fine for me. I'll load it into my second radio tomorrow and give that one a run.

Thanks and 73, Rob W1AEX

Thanks Rob

Parrot is not very reliable for the noise tests. I had a report of severe stuttering from one operator when they tested on Parrot, but when I spoke to them the signal was totally clear and no stuttering etc.

I know one person with a small amount of motorboating and someone else with sever mototboating, and it fixed the problem on both their radios.
Also another station had what sounded like fan or wind noise, and it also cured that .

These changes to the motorboating etc, are a byproduct of a whole bunch of changes I made in the code, as I've optimised the I2S data bus transfers from the C6000 DMR chip to the CPU (MK22 MCU), and fixed another DMR audio buffer bug, which seem to have fixed most if not all of the noises.

Note. I can still induce motorboating occasionally if the radio is in the charger unit etc, as its then injecting noise onto the voltage supply, and of course external mics can still cause the problem.
