Loading DMR IDs

Post by KB3ZQF » Thu Feb 20, 2020 10:17 pm

Updated my GD77 to the latest 20200220 test firmware, and it solved some of the dropout problems I have been having on DMR.

Next step, I wanted to clean up my contact list and switch over to using the DMR ID feature. I got the software referenced in the manual from the link "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/roger ... taller.exe"

I can use the Extras->OpenGD77 Support menu to upload/download codeplugs just fine, but when I try to load the DMR IDs it fails with "Device Not Found". It then helpfully tells me to hold down Blue + Green + * to put it into "Memory Access Mode", but doing this does not seem to have any effect other than clearing all my settings on the radio.

What am I missing here?

You should not be getting that message if the GD-77 is connected and turned on.

The message is happening because the CPS still supports both the OpenGD77 and also the official firmware, and in the official firmware there is a sequence of buttons that must be held in before the DMR ID database can be uploaded.

Check your USB cable etc and look in the Windows device manager and make sure the OpenGD77 Com port is showing up

Yep it's there, shows up as COM3. If I use try to use the "Program" menu, I get the same error, but if I use the "OpenGD77 Support" menu, everything in there works fine (once I select the COM3 port)

If you have to select Com3 manually there is lightly to be something wrong.

Did you load the driver?

Did you try a different USB port?

The driver was installed along with the CPS, but apparently wasn't working correctly. Going into the device manager, I clicked on the device and selected "Update Driver" and everything began working as expected. Thanks for the help!
