Problem activating repeater

Post by EA5SW » Sun Apr 05, 2020 5:39 pm

A couple of colleagues here in Spain have a problem with the GD77 which is not able to activate the repeater when there is no transmission.
When the carrier is activated, the equipment has no problem entering the repeater and synchronizing, but it is not capable of activating the transmission.

Any ideas ??

I think this occurs DMR only...
Well, If not receive transmission of the repeater, has not activation of PTT.
This is normal!
Maybe the repeater are not good adjusted¿? Is a MMDVM hardware or a Hytera?

I use my gd77 in a couple of repeaters and works fine.
I making a MMDVM repeater during this lockdown and I see is not a trivial adjust to make this working on DMR. Is very different as to make work in FM or C4FM... More critical. One time is well adjusted, el GD77 run perfectly.

This is most probably due to repeater not being adjusted ideally. I have two gd-77, one with opengd77 firmware and other with factory firmware. Opengd77 is much more sensitive to any loss on either TX or RX. I also have problem with opengd77 to sometimes enter local mmdvm repeater, which I never have with factory firmware. Also I have much more stuttering on opengd77 than on factory firmware. This all has to do with TX of the repeater, as I don't have any of these problems on my dual hat hotspot (which works the same as repeater). I also have several Baofengs (1701, dm-x) which don't have any problems on the same repeater. So, as developer state themselves, original gd77 firmware send much more data to processor, which somehow allows it to connect without problems to repeaters which are not tuned 100%. But if they were, you would not have these problems with OpenGD77.

I forgot to mention, they should try changing calibration settings (take care, they are separate for VHF and UHF). If you can't change the repeater tuning, you can try re-tuning the gd-77 :)

Hi
I have this problem too.

I can't connect with this dmr repeaters, ED7ZAL (UHF, Hardware MMDVM (Repeater). Firmware 20170501)
With the oficial firmware, fine.

I commented my case in: 7 and 8 page

OK.

So the repeater is hearing your signal.

What it sounds like is that the repeater does not wake up when you transmit.

So either the repeater is not waking up or the OpenGD77 does not hear the response from the repeater and then go into full Tx mode.
And

You can try the latest "Development" version

https://github.com/rogerclarkmelbourne/ ... /D20200507

I slightly increased the time between each retry when waking a repeater, (from 500mS to 600mS), because I found the official firmware uses 600mS

I just tried this version (20200507) but it has not changed me. The repeater does not wake up.

Thanks

I modify the Wake time to 2500/5000 and appears that works with some repeaters

How I can try it? Can I do it by OpenCPS?

I don’t think there is a setting for this.

Did you modify the firmware?
