Riku

I've now also tested the Tier1 version, and the current consumption is the same.
The radio I'm using for the tests is not new. Its probably about 18 months old.

The only way to know whether there is a real difference in the "new hardware" is for the users who have "new hardware", is for them to actually measure the current their radios are taking.

Just because the battery appears to go faster quicker, does not necessarily mean that the radio is taking more currently.
Its also possible that
1) The battery has less capacity
2) The charger is not charging the battery so well.

Note.
There are 2 x 3.7v Lipo cells in the battery pack, but they are not "balance charged", so its possible that some batteries become out of balance hence don't give optimum performance.
I know at least one person who has taken their battery pack apart and attached a wire to the unused terminal on the pack, so it can be correctly balance changed.

Please elaborate that. Or post some links, pics, or schematics.
Thanks!

Someone posted a github comment to a issue about battery life, but did not post any pictures.

I will try to find the comment and ask for more details

Flash the original firmware 2.6.6 into the GD77, factory reset and return to flash with OpenGD77 repairs the battery drain.

If flash with last official version 4.2.8 drain remains with OpenGD77.

DMR rx Audio cuts continue anyway...

Can anyone else confirm whether this makes any difference.

I can't see a logical reason why this should make any difference to the current consumption, as the only information thats common to both the OpenGD77 and the official firmware is the Calibration data and the codeplug data.

Of these 2 only the Calibration data is likely to make any difference to make any difference to current consumption, and this should not be changed by the official firmware (or the OpenGD77 firmware)
