G'day from VK3TEN

Post by Vk3TEN » Fri Dec 06, 2019 4:51 am

Hi All,
I have been playing with all things DV since the ID-31 first came out. I drift in and out of DMR, FUSION and D-Star, but am mostly on P25 TG10400. I have been meaning to try OpenGD77 for a while, and finally ordered a GD77 during the Black Friday sale. Will test with the stock firmware for a bit and flash it next week.

Anyone aware of flashing issues with recent radios? Suppliers have been known to change parts with new batches. Mine came with V4.2.6 preloaded.

Thanks to Roger, Kai and all for this great project.

Cheers,
Gordon VK3TEN

I'm not aware of any issue with flashing.

My dad just received a brand new GD-77 a few days ago and it flashed without any problems.

We have been having some problems with keypad locks and my dad's new radio had the same problem, even though we did a fix for this several days ago.
We've now got another fix for this problem, but its not been extensively tested.

However this problem is not specific to new radios, old ones sometimes do it.

After you flash the radio, use the OpenGD77 CPS to backup everything. EEPROM, Flash, Calibration (which is in the Flash) and also the MCU ROM, and at least then you'll have some backups. (not that anyone has ever needed to use them.)

Hi Gordon

You should not have any problems.

And if it doesn't work, just reflash the official firmware ;-)

Hi Roger, all working now. Wondering if you have a code plug / contacts list you can share?

Have started making my own up, but big job... I'm thinking of having 2 channels per repeater SL1/2 with an SL 1/2 TG RX Group List. Saves rembering what TG is in what slot and constantly hitting the * key. Is this the way to go?

I have one for VK3 which is fairly correct for DMR.

With the FM repeaters its hard to know if they are right or wrong, or whetger I simply can't hear them

I'll email the codeplug to you, so you have something to start with.

All working now! Great firmware, all very logical. Have had contacts through the local VK3RPS repeater and on BrandMeister trough my OpenSpot.

Many thanks for the setup assistance Roger:-)
