N2EIK, New to DMR.
(1) The firmware installer screen is in gibberish, all "???? " in the button text.
(2) I think I flashed then upon rebooting dm-1801 I get "lo batt version" on the screen, so I reflashed with OEM FW.
Help would be appreciated.

I just noticed this old post..
Use the OpenGD77CPS to install the firmware. The official firmware loader from Baofeng seems to be written in Chinese with no translation to English etc, hence the buttons display ??? for people without Chinese language installed on their PC
The reason when you flash back you get "LOW BT" is that you need to restore the backups of the Flash memory before you reinstall the official firmware.
If you didnt backup, then there are backup's from some other DM1801 here
