KC7RBW

Post by KC7RBW » Wed Nov 20, 2019 1:29 am

Hello, I'm Andrew KC7RBW near Seattle, Washington where I help keep a Cloud running smoothly.

I love the idea of being able to fix a bug in the firmware of my radio, rather than hope that a manufacturer will get around to it someday.
Currently looking for ways to contribute.

I know Radioddity did just have a push to fix some bugs, but I'm not sure how successful that was.

I know in some ways they seemed to cause problems with one of the releases and managed to scramble some people's calibration data.

I now only retain the official FW on one radio just as a reference, but every time I go to use that radio, I find the functionality (which is primarily designed for commercial operators), to be a pain to use, and quickly go back to the OpenGD77 radio.

I actually bought a GD-77 a long while back and sent it back because I was disappointed in the commercial firmware. Bought one again this month so that I could try OpenGD77 and I'm delighted. Thank you and Kai and others for making this happen.

(LOL)

I think they should pay me a commission, rather than being ambivalent

I guess them being ambivalent is better than them being hostile :)

And welcome, Andrew!
