Re: Modification of the Radioditty charger with "TP5100" card at $ 2.
A week? You lucky devil. As I order in China direct it takes about 4 weeks. But then it is 2$ for 4 of them. It took me some time to realize why these things were so delicate to handle. When I switched off the power supply and switched it on again, no problem. But when I pulled the plug direct...

Well, after some 5 blown out TP5100 I was rather suspicious. And after I put the diode in (knock on wood) not a single failure.
I've updated the picture in my blog and the forum. Quite embarrassing...

Re: Modification of the Radioditty charger with "TP5100" card at $ 2.
Yeah, maybe you found it on my compact hotspot. And yes, I am an idiot! My drawing is wrong. The picture of the TP5100 board is the wrong way around. So the diode has to go on the input, not the output. I will fix it right away. The diode protects the TP5100 from sudden death in case you swit...

Re: Addition power settings?
Sounds fine to me. But since there is a large variation in power levels on different GD-77s I would like an option where one can set the output level freely. Somewhat like in the beginning of OpenGD77. Maybe an "Expert Menu (Enter at your own risk)". Just a thought.

Re: Is there a guide to setting up hotspot mode?
Hi, with pistar it is quite easy. Just follow the instructions on the pi-star website. In the config you select GD77 Hotspot. Thats it. Beforehand you turn on hotspot mode in gd77 config. Connect the GD77 to the raspberry PI with the data cable. Switch on the Raspberry and the GD77. Do the neccesary...

Re: Update 22nd Jan
Is it just a cosmetic thing or is the hotspot using the wrong CC?

Re: compact GD-77 hotspot
I had a very short USB B cable handy, so I decided to fit this socket instead of micro USB. In fact I was thinking to power the PI through the GD77 battery. In this case you could run it without external power as well. But I did not trust the pins of the charge bay. And this setup would drain ...

compact GD-77 hotspot
I ripped out the inside of a GD77 charging bay and fitted it with a step-up converter plus a TP 5100 LiIon charging circuit. So the hotspot will work with a single 5 volts power supply and can be used outside in the field even with a power bank. https://files.dg1yfx.de/schematics.png https://files.d...
