1701 isn't in the manual yet
I don't own a 1701, nor plan to, but someone on Reddit had created some (pretty bad, honestly) guide on installing to the 1701 and pointed out that it's not in the manual. I know sometimes the manual gets a little behind, and this is probably already known it's not in there but wanted to drop a note...

Re: USB charger base
Walter, I checked my TP5100 - it is in the charger since the early days of OpenGD77 - as I made the charger mod. The 5V input to the TP5100 does not step up to 8,4V. The 5V input = 5V out at the charger contact clips. Yes, the 12V input will result in 8,4V - so the design of Roger is a universal ap...

Re: USB charger base
The TP5100 I used to replace the guts of my charger (entirely based on Jason's webpage) accepts 5V, is dirt cheap, and has resistors you can add/remove/change to adjust the current. I've never measured its efficiency, however, but it'll run from 5 to 18v. I went with a simple 5.5x2.1mm jack as those...

Re: belt case for gd77
update: the above button doesn't work with my high capacity Anytone 878 battery, b/c the area around the screws are not flat and there is a gap (prob can use longer screws w/ some spacers, but too much work). My standard capacity battery is in bad condition so I am not using it anymore (ironically ...

Re: belt case for gd77
I don't have a suggestion for a case, as I've never liked HT cases. They do protect the radio, but make it more annoying to use. I use a Kenwood SMKW1002 (google for that and you'll find it) which is a very sturdy button that attaches to the radio and a clip for your belt. I have three of the button...

Re: Radioddity GD77 USB charging lead
If you already have a 12v source on your desk, it'd probably be better to just modify the charger.

Re: Custom tx, rx tones
just wants to make the project better by requesting for it to be open like it claims to be in its own name. Yup, and well put sir. Possibly just a name and position change to Roger77 or something drop all the open nonsense and just put a tip jar up. If it’s gonna make all this anger and stress, thi...

Re: Battery eliminator
By the way, I got an MD-760 battery eliminator a week or so ago here and it fits perfect... I hooked my dual 12v outlet adapter to my power pole distribution and an extension cable and have my GD77 on 24/7 now. :) I'm sure this listing will only be good for so long, but just to be complete.. https:/...

Re: Anyone else have issues with scan not stopping on signals?
You are correct, scan dwell time is the amount of time the radio listens to a channel before it decides that there is a signal or not. 30ms is the default and gives the fastest scanning speed, this has been found to work reliably on most radios. However it may be that your radio needs a little long...

Anyone else have issues with scan not stopping on signals?
I was traveling for the holidays and was parked on the interstate for two hours because of a wreck so I was doing a bit of playing with radio.. I had the GD77 scanning FRS (for rx only, just to hear if anyone was talking) and heard nothing for several minutes, then I stopped it scanning and coincide...
