We now have a way to add new Contacts in the OpenGD77 firmware There is a new menu item for Contacts with options of "Contact list" and "New contact" Both TalkGroup and Private Call contacts can be added. That’s how it’s supposed to work.
My pc has a phantom COM1 which doesn’t exist on the hardware and I can select this to test for what happens when I try to use an invalid Com port number , and I tried to make it display an error message rathe than to hang or crash

Did you calibrate your power levels for 1W and 5W using the calibration screen in the CPS ?
In the Tier2 version the official calibration data stored in Flash is used, however the offical data is often completely incorrect
