Re: [RF induction problem] Hotspot mode failing after 2/10/2020 updated
So far, 2 watt has been running for over a full day on active talkgroups. I'll look at upping power again tomorrow.

Re: Hotspot mode failing after 2/10/2020 updated
Yes - I had a ferrite on the power cable of the PiZeroW as well as both ends of the USB to GD77 cable. The Pi itself was not shielded in any way, and it did fail after a period of time. I don't have a ferrite on the Pi4B power cable (which is the power adapter sold by Raspberry Pi themselves). So fa...

Re: [Won't work because of limitations in PiStar / MMDVHost] New feature in hotspot mode
Actually update is fairly fast on my network.
it would be great to have a "reset MMDVMHost" button...

Re: Hotspot mode failing after 2/10/2020 updated
Yes. I'm testing this with the Radioddity supplied antenna right on the radio, but at 1 watt of radiation. I'm actually experimenting with this to see how well this can be addressed with various torroids on the cable or shielding on the Pi. One step at a time. If we really do need external remotely ...

Re: Hotspot mode failing after 2/10/2020 updated
Well, I had the hotspot dump out, frozen during mid-transmission again. It took a couple of days for this to fail. The dmesg log has what looks like the same USB failure. This was on the PiZeroW with plastic enclosure. I've switched to my Pi4B, which has a metal heatsink enclosure. I also have a 4b ...

Re: [Won't work because of limitations in PiStar / MMDVHost] New feature in hotspot mode
If the USB connection is still working, you can sometimes reset things by doing an "Update" in PiStar. This stops MMDVMHost and then restarts it completely.

Re: Update 21st Feb
I am using the radio with the antenna that ships with it mounted on the radio, not a remote antenna.

Re: [OFF TOPIC - PiStar] I have detected an error in the software pi-star ver 4
I just checked (by doing an "upgrade" from the "expert" page on Pi-Star and RC8 is now available. It comes with a fairly large number of Debian "Buster" updates (the operating system underneath the PiStar platform). The Debian Buster updates resolved a connect problem I experienced using Wifi on a P...

Re: Hotspot mode failing after 2/10/2020 updated
Running all night, no problems with dumping out of hotspot mode. I think we should close this problem, and recognize that the RF can get into the USB cable supplied by Radioddity with the radio (that we use to interconnect the RPi and the GD77. Documentation should be added to recommend installation...
