Differences between the GD77 and the MD9600
The GD77 and MD9600 hardware are quite different The only chips which are which both radios have in common are * The C6000 DMR / DSP chip * The type of Flash chip (but the Flash memory in the MD9600 is 16Mb and only 1Mb in the GD77) * The display controller chip accepts most of the same commands and...

Differences between radio hardware revisions
The MD-9600 / RT-90 have 3 major hardware verions, which use different ICs and also other modifications V2 and V3 radios use the same PLL and IF chips V4 radios use a different PLL chip to V2/V3 but use the same IF chip V5 (aka V4A) radios use a different PLL chip to the older radios and also use a ...

LCD display and backlight
The LCD display has the same usable resolution as the GD77/DM1801, 128 x 64 pixels, however the phyical display aspect ratio is more rectangular than the GD77, and the pixels are rectangular rather than square This is very obvious on the satellite polar screen, which draws a circle, becuase the circ...

User Interface controls
Currently the User Interface controls are not ideal The underlying GD77 user interface, expects the hardware to have more buttons than the MD-9600 / RT-90 has. Specifically these radios do not have the Left or Right keypad keys, or the SK1 or SK2 buttons. The radio also has a rotary control, but thi...

DMR Tx on wrong TS
I have noticed that occasionally the radio appears to switch to the wrong TS on Tx.

High BER on Hotspots
Anyone using V2 hardware will experience problems with hotspots on any power level except High power Colin G4EML informed me that this is because of a hardware design fault in these older radios, where the PA could not turn on fast enough and the beginning of each DMR pulse was not being transmitted...

DMR Rx clicking and other sound problems
FYI We currently have a small problem where if the radio is in DMR mode, occasionally there is a buzz sound from the speaker. This can often occur when a repeater carrier stops transmitting, but also seems to be triggered by random QRM. We tried to fix this by filling the DMR audio buffer with silen...

Re: Zone Change Channel Retention
First and foremost; I'm a newbie when it comes to OpenGD77 - I installed the beta version last weekend and must stay I'm immensely impressed with how the bells and whistles are laid out; a huge kudos to the development team, you've made the GD77 my favorite radio to use. One question I have: is the...

V2 hardware DMR modulation problems at low power levels
FYI.
MD9600 hardware version 2.x have known DMR modulation levels on low power settings.
This seems to be most noticable by people trying to use these radios with hotspots.
Anyone experiencing these problems, should try using higher power levels to see if it fixes the hotspot BER problems.
