Re: Update 21st Feb
So far, it's been running about 5 hours with plenty of usage and no problems. I'll test for the next few days, and if we can confirm this solved the issue, I suggest we make recommendations in documentation and manuals for adding a ferrite to prevent RFI and use of a metal enclosure for the computer...

Re: Update 21st Feb
I've received and installed the ferrite filter on the USB and power connections to the Pi Zero W.
Now we'll see if we get the USB lockout failure.

Re: GD-77 vs Baofeng DM-1801 teardown
The early Baofeng UV-5R analog FM radios were quite dirty, throwing significant spurs and modulation byproducts. They were so bad that US FCC regulations for type acceptance were being violated for Part 90 (commercial FM private mobile radio standards). The radios were banned from importation into t...

Re: Update 21st Feb
Daniel, I attached the DMESG files from the Hotspot mode dumping back to regular GD77 mode a couple of posts ago. I should have some ferrite core filter torriods later in the week and I'll test with those in place. I'm now testing with the GD77 out of the charger base in case that is what is generat...

Re: Hotspot mode failing after 2/10/2020 updated
The 2/21 version is dumping out within a couple of minutes of booting.
I've placed the DMESG files (two failures) here:

Hotspot mode fails Re: Update 21st Feb
Again, I'm seeing hotspot mode dump out with this version software.
I've attached two dmesg.txt files that both show the error, which occurs within a couple of minutes of booting Pi-Star.
These are for Daniel to see the USB port error that is triggering this.

Will do. I'll be loading the 2/21 version firmware shortly, and will gather the DMESG data should this fail.

Re: Experimental version to help DMR breakup
Update: The 13 frame experimental firmware has now been running for about 9 hours without problems. So, it looks good to go and the hotspot issue must be elsewhere.
I just ordered some RFI toroids to install on the USB cable to see if RF is getting in there.
