I personally have removed it. This is one of a few minor changes to the UI I have made.

Fresh off the press. Doesn't include SPI and optimization changes, but all else is up to date from the source.

I guess I forgot to mention the issue there. The problem is that it wouldn't activate the display by short pressing the key.

I use the latest source with my own builds. I just happened to notice a bug with the manual display mode caused by the number key functions. It's on line 377 of the fw_main.c.
