Battery replacement alternative

I know folks can easily buy from radioddity.com, but where shipping is expensive or unavailable, alternatives are good. Yesterday I bought a battery for the Cignus UV-8 (a rebadged version of another radio that I am unsure which), and it fits perfectly. It cost me PhP 600 or about $10-11. I am now a...

Re: CPS and firmware loader do not recognise my 1801

I've been reading your message exchanges, Daniel and Ana (via Translate). I think we may have the same problem I described in a pior post on this thread. As I mentioned, with my own DM1801, I can sync and update fine. However, a friend sent me 2 radios, and neither one will sync with CPS or let me u...

Re: GD77 Listening two groups

You can monitor two talkgroups at once. The last TG you transmit to becomes your auto-static talkgroup. If you have not yet transmitted to 4000 (to disconnect), the 2nd to the last TG becomes the dynamic talkgroup. BM will route traffic to both auto-static and dynamic talkgroup to your user ID. Ther...

Re: CPS and firmware loader do not recognise my 1801

Bringing this thread back to life, as I am having trouble updating 2 units of DM-1801 for a friend. With my own DM-1801, I have been able to update to the latest firmware using the new update method (e.g., download of official GD77 firmware plus the openDM1801 .bin). A fellow ham sent two units DM-1...

Re: Recent versions of firmware will be removed

I think Andrew has got the spirit of open source software and collaboration-- and licensing, as far as GPL goes-- in the right interpretation. It's about freedom as in free speech (freedom to distribute, build, enjoy) and not necessarily freedom as in free beer.

Re: OpenGD77 CPS download location changed

I used qdmr to read the codeplug from my GD77 running OpenGD77. I haven't tried uploading it yet, as I have no changes to make, but it looks promising. I haven't yet ascertained whether there are significant differences with respect to the OpenGD77 CPS, but it might be worth a try. https://dm3mat.d...

Re: Recent versions of firmware will be removed

Now this project will be sold commercially. I'm certainly not going to work for free on this project while some companies make money by selling their "modified" version e.g. with encryption. I have no incentive to add any new features to give away. I doubt you will find that anyone will now spend a...

Re: Recent versions of firmware will be removed

I love openGD77 and how it has changed the paradigm for DMR for many radio amateurs. I made a few contributions but not technical--mostly just in the documentation, which needed some improvements at some point in late 2019--so just minimal. However, I also realize that as a community we must respect...

Re: aprs how to use

Hello. APRS on DMR mostly relates to 2 things: 1. Position beaconing -- this is taken care of by the APRS settings on BrandMeister selfcare. You can then define GPS coordinates on your hotspot via MMDVM.ini or through pi-star dashboard. Some radios that have GPS will pass the location information fr...
