Re: Adjusting the RX frequency, independent of the TX frequency

I know it's a bit more messy in programming, but we have plenty of channels.... why not just create a zone per satellite and a few stepped AOS/Overhead/LOS channels like we've done for radios for years? Seems easier to flip through the channels than remembering a button combo that's only useful for ...

Re: Python program to change DMR-ID and callsign of a codeplug

Nice, I'd so love to see a gui to be able to program in Linux. :( If you're really nuts you could make changes using gd77xfer's yml I suppose but beyond simple modifications it'd be pretty tough. And, unless I've missed something, no user db. Thats a really big ask.. and probably unlikely to happen...

Re: CPS works great in virtual box

I haven't had any issues with FW upgrades using my Virtual Box machine. I've done this on at least 3 different radios and their respective CPS. And I haven't seen my time where the connected devices "fall off" USB. But ymmy of course I should have been more specific, I have also not had any issues ...

There is a python script someone posted to the forum, which can upload the codeplug on Linux machines.

But I don't currently have a link to it. You'll need to track it down.
Yep, gd77xfer It does work to download/upload binary or yml. Just would be nice to have a GUI for it. :)

Re: New ongoing "Development" version has been created

PURELY curious question...

What if Radioddity said they wanted OpenGD77 to be the stock firmware on the GD77? Kind of like how some wifi routers have OEM firmware or OpenWRT (or whatever other versions there are). I know it violates the "no commercial use" but that would be pretty exciting to see.

Re: CPS works great in virtual box

I have used it in a VM for a few years now, along with a few other radio programming software that only have Windows options. I never have any issues programming radios, even updating firmware, surprisingly.. Although I would generally suggest not doing firmware that way, as when the device falls of...

Re: Helicopter background TX noise in DMR mode

If you're using an external hand mic, that's common, and unlikely it would matter if it was the original firmware or OpenGD77. If you're not using a handmic, odd, never heard of this (typically called 'motor boating' from the noise) just using the HT directly.

Re: On "Profiteering" and Free Software

Throwing in the towel, or making "open" GD77 closed is a really, really poor way to handle this for everyone. It abandons the userbase and throws away all of the hard work done by the developers. Anything that is open will be used by someone else. License forbidding it or not. I deeply hope that thi...

Re: New ongoing "Development" version has been created

Unfortunately there seems to be a bug with the hotspot in the version I just released, so I have withdrawn it again. Also some people think it won't wake a repeater, but that works fine for me. I will need to send the next version to more beta testers before I upload it, but as the firmware has hun...
