Non OpenGD77 HS related Pi-Star problem
I tried upgrading my PiStar nodes to R4.1.2 this evening. The node that operates my OpenGD77 hotspot worked fine, but the nodes that use MMDVM Hotspot Hats (simplex and duplex) both failed to initialize communication to the MMDVM board. These are packaged JumboSpot hotspots. The problem appears to b...

Re: Hotspot mode - Apparently stuck in TX
Nice! and Digital RF is really neat... Depending upon terrain, a 4 watt hotspot and small number of low power hotspots could support an entire event ...

Change in PiStar Display of Transmit activity
Anyone notice a recent change in the way that the PiStar dashboard is displaying "Transmit" activity on hotspots?
The "Gateway Activity" display now shows a counting up timer in seconds. It seems to be updated every couple of seconds on my nodes (both MMDVM Hat JumboSpots and OpenGD77 ).

Re: Looking into Open GD77 Firmware.
Welcome to the project. There are a number of improvements in OpenGD77 firmware and the accompanying CPS (you have to be using both). See the User Guide for OpenGD77 for details: https://github.com/rogerclarkmelbourne/OpenGD77/blob/master/docs/OpenGD77_User_Guide.md The number of channels is expande...

Re: Hotspot mode - Apparently stuck in TX
It gets spotty because of the hills, but I've worked through my hotspot from a mile and a half away from the mobile in my car. I've got a gain mag mount antenna placed about 10 feet from the GD77 running hotspot mode at 2 watts. It's on the second floor of the house inside my lab room, and unfortuna...

Re: Hotspot mode - Apparently stuck in TX
The problem had that appearance here also, and the combination of ferrite beads on the USB cable (at both ends) and the usage of an external antenna placed several feet away from the radio and RPi has solved this. Note that other things can also radiate magnetic fields and induce interference voltag...

Re: Battery remover?
When operating the radio on low (1-2 watt) power mounted with the Li-Ion Battery itself on a factory charger, the radio seems to perform well without damage to the battery over the long term. In addition, the battery is like having a mini-UPS to keep the radio up and running. It's a variation on thi...

Re: Hello from Russia
Alexander, welcome to a great open technology project and group.
I confess, there is some romance when thinking about the open desolation of Siberia - at least as depicted in media. I hope you live comfortably and that it's a great place for home.
