Welcome to the project. It's a testament to the power of open technology, and the prowess involved in reverse engineering a very complex C-6000 chip "black box"...

Re: Hello from a Retired First Responder
Welcome to the project. After you're licensed, note that you can also use recycled P25 radios like Motorola's MTS-3000 on ham radio with networks like Brandmeister through the use of radio "Hotspots". These devices can communicate with DMR, P25, YSF, and other digital FM protocols, and interconnect ...

These are all a tradeoff. The JumboSpot (simplex and even duplex versions) are very very compact and remarkable pieces of technology. If you read the details of the AF7021 SDR radio receive/transmit chip you'll find that it does have an AFC implementation available. https://www.analog.com/en/product...

Re: Pi-Star cannot receive OpenGD77's signal
Note that the Pi-Star running on "JumboSpot" hardware (with one of the radio "hat" boards on a Raspberry Pi) have a Software defined Radio chip without Automatic Frequency Control implemented. This means that the fine adjustment of the center of the radio's reception frequency is necessary, and the ...

Re: jumbospot not needed with opengd77
The OpenGD77 firmware incorporates code that turns a GD77 into the radio portion of a simplex hotspot, attached to a Raspberry Pi computer (like the pictured ZeroW) via the USB connection - same cable used for programming the radio and updating it's firmware. Since it's a radio implemented with actu...

Hello Carlo, and welcome to the project and this forum.
Try the OpenGD77 firmware. It's remarkable how much better this is for Amateur Radio usage.
