Re: 3d model of the GD77 battery enclosure

If you do that, I'd also KILL to see a 3D-printed battery enclosure that allows for removable 18650 cells. It would of course be thicker, but I'd be okay with that.

There is a battery eliminator on Thingiverse https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2742838

Re: Which hardware to choose considering no AC-plug is near?

If you look at the thread regarding the RD-5R firmware version, I think it'll become pretty clear pretty quickly that the hardware is vastly inferior to the GD-77. You'll have to decide if that's overridden by your power needs - they're cheap, after all. There are plans for battery eliminators onlin...

Re: New to any sort of radio

Based on that page's info, you're still using a device that's not certified and thus still afoul of the law.

Ideally don't do that with OpenGD77 as it's not cool to pull this firmware into that mix.

Re: Hello from new user

Welcome! Very nice work, and yes, the fact that all of this is open source is a big part of the reason I'm here.

Now I just need to get done migrating servers to AWS so that I can actually have time to play.

Re: Hello from KM1U

For what it's worth, I've been a ham for 27 years and there were no digital modes for quite a bit of that. I'll freely admit that I'm a computer nerd, but I don't feel like much of this stuff really translates from that, except perhaps for plugging in a USB cable and installing a Windows program. An...

Re: Hello from a Retired First Responder

Welcome! I don't believe there's a blank codeplug - there's one that comes with the CPS editor, which you can pretty quickly delete things from and add your own. At least that's what I did. As for scanning, I don't believe I've seen that as yet, but I don't scan a ton as I have two zones: one for a ...
