Re: RF Gain decrease in sensitivity

Could look into getting an "intermod" filter or some other kind of inline filter, just keep in mind that they are not going to be dual band, and might not fix the issue. Honestly HTs aren't designed to be used on high gain antennas, if you need to use it as a base frequently maybe you should look in...

Have you calibrated the 1W and 5W power values?
I have not personally, I only have a super cheap meter that I don't really trust beyond ballpark figures.

Re: Addition power settings?

The problem is most likely that its very hard to set the radio to output 50mW. Or even 75mW. So the power setting on one radio to give 50mW could be a lot different for another radio to give 50mW I've attached my version of 50mW, and also has 5W++ mode, and various other changes It may or may no be...

GD77 handles choppy input better than MD380

I have been using https://app.brandmeisteractivity.live/ a lot recently to find random active talkgroups, and a lot of the most active ones are XLX gateways, which I'm still a bit unclear on but I guess they could be DMR, Fusion, Allstar, etc, pretty much anything. Interesting some of them sound ver...

Re: Addition power settings?

Hotspots are notoriously deaf.. To say the least. I was able to hit my repeater at 17 miles away with an RSSI of -103 at 50mW, and I'm not at all line of sight. And the signal increased accordingly as the power went up. So it's outputting power, but I wouldn't expect the hotspot to hear it well, or...

Re: Addition power settings?

Interesting, my hotspot doesn't hear anything on 50mW, even close. 75mW seems fine. Even across the house. Like 50mW isn't doing anything at all. Messed about a bit more, 50mW if the HT is literally touching the hotspot is heard, signal seems good, S9+30 but anything a inch or two away, nothing. 75m...

Re: Addition power settings?

If you want to include a 50mW setting and get some feedback I imagine there are people that'd be willing to help. :) I can't measure mine, I have a junky meter that I'm not sure it's even accurate down below 5w honestly so I can't help out too much with calibration but can give you some feedback on ...

Re: Very strange problem with *sound interface

A lot of these cheaper radios have a VERY annoying click when the audio amp turns on/off, especially on a handmic it seems really bad. I've seen a few pages fixing this on various radios, here's one I saw a while back that I'd pondered making into an intermediate interface for a radio that's particu...

Re: Addition power settings?

Have you ever done any power usage measurements at the various power levels? I know I've seen some other radios that lowering the power into the finals below factory settings did not actually use any less power. But I'm all for 50mW low, I can touch my hotspot from my chair. :)

Re: Modification of the Radioditty charger with "TP5100" card at $ 2.

I just fed my 5100 with 12v directly. YOLO! The cap to filter seems like a nice addition though, mine does spew on VHF a bit. Within a foot or so of it while an HT is in it charging it will desense on VHF. But just a few feet away on the desk is fine so I never worried much about it. I also put a 12...
