I got this fixed. Yes I was using the same cable and radio.
To fix it I did a restore settings from the menu. once I restored settings, I powered on the radio and it worked first time.

problem with Com Driver
Today when I went to flash the radio instead of it getting a com port, I got the following error. USB device not recognised. the last USB device malfunctioned and windows does not recognise it. and when I go in to device manager I have an unknown USB device that says device driver descriptor failed....

with the new modes, I noticed you put the word contact before every talkgroup. can this be spoken the first time an arrow is pressed then not again? Can you give a basic overview on how to create language files or, at least a list of what you need as well as an input format? The problem is when you load the utility focus isn't being set in the window, and you have to click the mouse in the window. once you click the mouse to set focus, things work as expected.
