Re: Is there a guide to setting up hotspot mode?
Some shielding always helps. Looks awful, works great. I use self adhesive copper foil. https://www.amazon.de/SYCEES-Selbstklebend-Abschirmband-Kupferfolie-Schneckenschutz/dp/B072VDQGN2/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=kupferfolie+selbstklebend&qid=1589390218&sr=8-6 https://files.dg1yfx.de/foil.jpg

Re: opengd77 problem with external microphone
I have the same problem, but with the internal microphone as well. But it happens not often. After a few seconds it stops transmitting. The other end hears a noise, somewhat like a roger beep. The LED turns to yellow /orange, i.e. both LEDs are on. And it is on receive. I'm using the GD-77 with a DV...

Re: PTT weirdness (and Mobilinkd TNC2)
It looks like there is a difference between the Kenwood and the Radioddity plug.
As I've got a Kenwood microphone, I have both plugs here.
Radioddity: Kenwood: There is a difference in the 2,5mm plug which could be the culprit.

Re: PTT weirdness (and Mobilinkd TNC2)
https://www.mouser.de/datasheet/2/427/sia914adj-1764433.pdf There may be a fault with the TNC2. Is the double MOSFET soldered in the wrong way round? To test if the TNC2 circuit works, connect a LED and 1k resistor in series to +5V on the TNC board to PTT. When TNC2 is transmitting, the LED should b...

Re: PTT weirdness (and Mobilinkd TNC2)
In addition to my last post, this should be the correct wiring from TNC2 to GD-77 after consulting the schematics of the TNC2: http://www.mobilinkd.com/wp-content/files/MobilinkdTNC2.pdf TNC2 has a 3,5mm Socket with two (!) rings. TNC2 shield => GD77 2,5mm shield (GND) TNC2 ring 2 (next to shield) =...

Re: PTT weirdness (and Mobilinkd TNC2)
Sounds like a ground issue with the pinout. Here it the correct pinout of the GD-77 connector: 3,5mm Shield = PTT Ring = Mike Tip = USB Data (white) 2,5mm Shield = GND (Mike, Speaker, PTT, USB) Ring = USB Data (green) Tip = Speaker So, check the connections on the TNC2 if this corresponds with the p...

Re: serial data with internal mic and speaker
I bought some cheap stereo 3,5mm plus 2,5mm plugs and sockets to connect the lot. Plus a USB-Micro socket. This is a far better idea instead of slaugtering an original cable with lacks all connections anyway. This tool keeps me from unplugging anything for updating firmware or cps. Debugging or remo...

Re: serial data with internal mic and speaker
Well, external mike and speaker plus USB simultaneously is possible. I use it for months without problems. Since there are so many different pinouts you will find in the net, here is my version 3,5mm Shield = PTT Ring = Mike Tip = USB Data (white) 2,5mm Shield = GND (Mike, Speaker, PTT, USB) Ring = ...

Re: Update 16th Feb
Yeah, noise problem has gone. But I still don't have the guts to put the firmware onto my GD77 hotspot.

Re: Update 15th Feb
Yes, some weird noises. And in Hotspot mode sometimes it will not receive or transmit. Reverted back to the last version.
