As long as I see my refund, that is what is going to happen. It went back as an RMA today.

Re: No Comm port for Programming Cable - Win 10
VK3KYY I only have one, they sent me an RMA to return the first one which I couldn't even enter my Radio ID into. The replacement was clearly a used item (I bought open box as no new ones were available) as it had all sorts of data programmed into it including a radio ID. F1RMB I did try a factory r...

Re: No Comm port for Programming Cable - Win 10
So I'm stuck with the same issue. I'm following the instructions here https://www.opengd77.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1770 but at the point where it says "Turn on your transceiver in bootloader mode (SK1 + SK2 + power on)", it always boots up as if the SK1 & SK2 buttons were not pressed. I tried: 1. un...

Re: No Comm port for Programming Cable - Win 10
Thanks for the reply. Radioddity lived up to their excellent reputation and sent me a new (open box) GD-77 radio.
I have confirmed I can read and write from/to it using the Radioddity CPS so now I'm going to try installing Open GD77.

Re: No Comm port for Programming Cable - Win 10
Either one of the buttons is defective or the official firmware has trashed itself. The official firmware has a bug where it erases some of the copy protection data, and this prevents the radio entering Firmware Update mode. However we never heard of the copy protection being trashed in a brand new...

Re: No Comm port for Programming Cable - Win 10
Daniel, Thanks so much for your detailed answer. From what you're saying it seems that, for whatever reason, my GD-77 won't go into programming mode. I could make a video but the start up sequence appears to be the same whether or not I hold down the 2 buttons; after 10 seconds, "Factory Init..." is...

Re: No Comm port for Programming Cable - Win 10
So, when I try to put the GD-77 into programming mode:
1. Does it normally stay in programming mode for 5 minutes or more?
2. Does it normally appear in Device Manager as a port?

Re: No Comm port for Programming Cable - Win 10
Just put the radio into firmware update mode, and install the firmware It seems my radio doesn't want to go into programming mode, maybe I have a bad cable? If I power it up with the 2 buttons under the PTT pressed, it blinks the green LED slow, fast, slow (with the display blank) and then boots as...

Re: No Comm port for Programming Cable - Win 10
I'm trying to change my GD-77 to run on OpenGD77 firmware but despite holding down the 2 buttons under PTT as I switch on, Open GD-77 CPS never sees the radio. I watched a Youtube video where a guy demonstrated doing the firmware upload from OpenGD77CPS, he said the a radio was already connected. Is...

Re: No Comm port for Programming Cable - Win 10
I found this walk through guide and was trying to follow it. When I checked the menu of my virgin (open box) GD-77, it says it's Soft V4.02.06 so I thought this may be the issue as the .sgl file that Open GD77 asks for is V4.3.6 So I tried to follow the author's instructions on how to update but whe...
