Re: Licence change?

Roger, thank you again for your work and that of the rest of the team.

I think it's a very good move to protect your work from commercial exploitation.

Re: First time on!!

Welcome to the project. Be sure to also use the OpenGD77 CPS to program the radio. They go together. You'll find this approach much more friendly for ham use than the original channel oriented firmware that the manufacturer loads the radio with. They are good radios, the OpenGD77 is pretty reliable,...

Re: Droid-Star open development

Saw the same thing when trying to use the parrot... No response to the private call. You raise an interesting problem about open technology and patent rights on the AMBE3000 Codec. When I worked developing technology for Java, we developed a completely independently (black box) developed Java engine...

Re: Droid-Star open development

I don't know anything about the author, other than having loaded the app and that it functions. I think that the source for the AMBE3000 Codec is at the GitHub link I posted, and while copyrighted by the author, it indicates it's open. Is this the complete codec, or is it only calling an external mo...

Re: Seeing Callsign Instead Of ID

The database download into your GD77 is pretty much automated. I just choose to select the North American callsigns. Talker Alias from Brandmeister is also a great source, which is automatic. You can see this in action if you have a hotspot, and turn on the real time "Live Logs" tracing in Pi-Star. ...

Droid-Star open development

I just became aware of an open source development called Droid-Star. OpenGD77 users might find this useful as an alternate node for testing. This software incorporates elements of a number of open source projects including MMDVM, an open AMBE3000 Codec and other technologies. It implements a Amateur...

Radioddity Sale 11/27/20

Radioddity (US marketing) has announced a sale for 11/27/20. The GD77 is being offered with a spare battery for $70. Only 30 units are available at that price. The entire site is 20% off during the sale. I have no financial involvement with Radioddity, but thought members here might find this useful...

Re: New to DMR..

Hi Dave, and welcome to the project. Remember that DMR was conceived as a channelized commercial environment, not necessarily structured for ad-hoc amateur use. This is the brilliance of what the group did in OpenGD77. It has been redesigned to allow ad-hoc usage in a very powerful voice over IP (pa...
